On April 1st, Habitat for Humanity Capital Region ReStores are kicking off our month-long Home is the Key 2025 fundraising campaign. All month long, you have the opportunity to help more local people like Rebellia (above) and Carly (below) access affordable and sustainable Habitat housing opportunities in the Greater Lansing area.
Shoppers play a crucial role. When you donate $1, $5, or $20 at checkout at the Lansing, St Johns, and Williamston ReStores during the entire month of April, you help a local family achieve safety and stability.
Last year, shoppers raised $1,541 for our programs!

By donating at checkout, shoppers not only contribute to affordable local housing solutions, but they also write their names on a key and add it to the wall of keys at the ReStore! Even more, contributing to this campaign is a great way to show support for the community and to leave a lasting impact on the lives of those in need of a hand up.
Impact Local Families
When Carly applied to purchase a Habitat home, she and her kids were cramped into a small rental with inadequate heating. Now, she has provided her family with a Habitat house that she was able to purchase with an affordable mortgage, and they all have space of their own!
However, stories like Carly's are not uncommon. "A majority of Americans believe that it is challenging to find affordable quality housing in their communities. More than half of all adults say they have made at least one trade-off in order to cover their rent or mortgage." (Habitat for Humanity International).
Right now, there are nine families waiting to purchase an affordable home with Habitat Capital Region. Your contribution during Home is the Key month makes a big difference.
