Have you made any Habitat resolutions yet? Would you like to? I have three FANTASTIC, easy resolutions you can make to live generously this year.
1. Resolve to give $5 a month to Habitat Capital Region
Whoa, Katie. Coming right out of the gate asking for money?
I know. That was very bold of me, but this is my #1 resolution because it is so easy to accomplish!
When you set up a monthly donation, you can rest easy knowing that you are supporting a cause you love every month - even when you get busy.
Just $5 every month is the equivalent of providing approximately 120 pounds of nails. That's over 6,000 nails that can be used to frame half a house!
2. Resolve to shop more sustainably this year
One simple way to reduce your environmental footprint is by being a thoughtful shopper. Purchasing secondhand items saves you money AND saves the planet.
The Habitat ReStore accepts donations of building materials, tools, furniture, and home goods to resell to the public and fund Habitat's work.
The next time you are looking for an end table, or window, or bathroom vanity, remember to check the Habitat ReStore first!
That $250 couch is equivalent to providing a homeowner with a safe, new front porch. It also reduces your carbon footprint by 0.5+ tons!
3. Resolve to volunteer every month
This can be hard. If monthly isn't realistic for you, try quarterly or once! Your favorite charities appreciate every moment you spend with them.
But I seriously want you to make an effort to volunteer in your community this year. At Habitat Capital Region, we provide lots of ways to help.
Volunteers are priceless; someone figured out that volunteers are worth over $31/hour.
One construction shift is equivalent to providing a 5-gallon bucket of paint, 50 pounds of nails, AND the kitchen sink!
