Annual Report FY24: Community

This year, thanks to the incredible support of volunteers, donors, and partners, Habitat for Humanity Capital Region made a significant impact on families and in new communities.

The fiscal year 2024 Annual Report is fueled by the concept, "by the community, for the community."

Community. It’s a word that gets thrown around a lot. It is even one of our core values here at Habitat Capital Region. But what does it mean? Is it where we live? Where we work? Those with whom we share goals, or with whom we choose to spend our time? We believe the answer is “yes” to all of those definitions and many more.

The Power of Community

At Habitat Capital Region, we believe that everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live. But we know that we cannot achieve this vision alone. Because of this, the progress outlined in this year’s Annual Report is the direct result of the collective efforts of countless individuals and organizations who share our commitment to building a world where everyone has a place to call home.

Community aligns us with a higher purpose. It is predicated on inclusivity and demands equity. Sometimes community shows up as collective strength, and other times as collective healing. Overall, community means we’re never alone.

Transforming Lives

Our fiscal year 2024 is defined by leaps into new communities. We welcomed the communities of Clinton County into our service area. As a result, thousands more neighbors in the Capital Region have access to our life-changing programs. We kicked off the Eastfield Neighborhood Project that will welcome new homeowners to Lansing’s east side and broke ground on the first of two new homes on Lansing’s south side. Further, eight critical home repairs are allowing homeowners to stay in their communities, and 24 ramps are bringing safe access to their for others.

Three families impacted by our three programs. All are featured in the FY24 Annual Report.

Meet three families impacted by our Homeownership, Repair, and Ramp Programs in the Annual Report: Brittni, David and Laura, and Stephanie.

You - our volunteers, advocates, and supporters - are part of the Habitat Capital Region community. You are part of the strength that moves us forward, the inclusivity that guides our work, and the healing that springs from serving our neighbors.
